Nick Saban says NIL has no guardrails
Original: Nick Saban says NIL ‘created an environment with no control, no guardrails’
Former Alabama football coach Nick Saban criticized name, image and likeness payments, saying NIL 'created an environment with no control, no guardrails.' His comments add to an ongoing debate in college sports over whether athletes' compensation deals are being used as unchecked recruiting incentives, and whether the NCAA should impose clearer rules on collectives and boosters.
Why now: College sports leaders and fans are actively debating the lack of regulation around NIL payments to athletes.
