Southern-set 'Measure for Measure' wins fresh critical praise
Original: Review | A ‘Measure for Measure’ set in the American South illuminates Shakespeare anew
The Washington Post has published a review of a new production of Shakespeare's 'Measure for Measure' relocated to the American South, saying the setting illuminates the play anew. The critic highlights how the transposed context gives fresh meaning to the drama's themes of law, morality and hypocrisy, offering audiences a renewed reading of a lesser-staged Shakespeare work.
Why now: A major outlet's positive review of an inventive staging of an infrequently performed Shakespeare play is drawing attention among theatre audiences.
