Original: Review | A ‘Measure for Measure’ set in the American South illuminates Shakespeare anew
A new production of Shakespeare's 'Measure for Measure', relocated to the American South, is winning attention after a positive review in The Washington Post. Critics say the transposed setting sheds fresh light on the play's themes of power, morality and hypocrisy, offering audiences a renewed reading of one of Shakespeare's problem plays.
Why now: A major critic has praised an inventive new staging of a rarely performed Shakespeare play.
