CHOMPI discontinued, reborn as open-source sampler
Original: CHOMPI is discontinued but lives on as an open-source sampler
CHOMPI, the compact lo-fi sampler popular with beatmakers, has been discontinued, but the company is releasing it as an open-source project so the community can continue developing and using it. Musicians and hardware enthusiasts are welcoming the move, which preserves the device's software and gives it a second life beyond its commercial run.
Why now: The discontinuation of a well-liked music device, softened by its open-source release, is notable news for the music production community.
