Pete Hegseth appoints Elon Musk to warfare taskforce

Original: Pete Hegseth appoints Elon Musk to US taskforce on future of warfare

US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth has named Elon Musk, the Tesla and SpaceX chief executive, to a taskforce on the future of warfare. The appointment places one of the world's most prominent technology entrepreneurs at the heart of American military planning, and is drawing attention and debate over the growing role of tech figures in defence policy.

Why now: A tech billionaire with major government contracts joining a US military strategy body is a striking and controversial development.
