Pedicab operators in New York are repeatedly playing Alicia Keys' 'Empire State of Mind' at high volume outside Broadway theaters while performances are underway, disrupting audiences and drawing complaints from theatergoers and venues. The noise, aimed at luring tourists, has become a running nuisance around the Theater District, with Gothamist highlighting the clash between street vendors and the city's flagship theater industry.
Why now: It is a quirky, relatable New York nuisance story touching the high-profile Broadway scene.
