Vermont wildlife officials ask deer hunters to report sightings

Original: Fish & Wildlife asks deer hunters to report wildlife sightings

Vermont Fish & Wildlife is asking deer hunters to report wildlife sightings during the hunting season. Hunters in the field can record observations of animals such as bears, moose and turkeys, giving biologists valuable data on species distribution and population trends. Officials say hunters are well placed to gather this information because they spend long hours across remote parts of the state.

Why now: Deer season brings thousands of hunters into the woods, making it an efficient time for the state to crowdsource wildlife data.
