Trump says it's fine Kim Jong Un has nuclear weapons
Original: Trump says it’s fine for Kim Jong Un to have nuclear weapons because ‘he likes me’
Donald Trump said he has no problem with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un possessing nuclear weapons, citing their personal relationship and saying 'he likes me'. The remarks drew criticism for downplaying a major security threat and dismissing nonproliferation concerns in favour of personal diplomacy with one of the world's most isolated nuclear-armed states.
Why now: Trump's suggestion that personal affection justifies accepting North Korea's nuclear arsenal is a striking break from US nonproliferation policy.
