Patrick Stewart and the ethics of power

Original: Patrick Stewart taught us what good men do with power

A Vox essay argues that Patrick Stewart's portrayal of Captain Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek offered a lasting model of how good men should exercise power: with restraint, humility, reasoned debate, and moral seriousness. The piece frames Picard as an ideal of liberal leadership, and readers are debating whether that vision of authority still holds meaning in today's political climate.

Why now: Readers are drawing comparisons between Picard's idealized leadership and current political leadership.
