Patrick Stewart and the model of a good man in power
Original: Patrick Stewart taught us what good men do with power
A Vox essay argues that Patrick Stewart's portrayal of Captain Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek offered a lasting template for how principled men should exercise power: with humility, restraint, empathy and accountability. The piece frames Picard as a liberal ideal of leadership, and readers are debating whether that model still resonates in today's political climate.
Why now: The essay invites comparison between Picard's ideals and current political leadership.
