Google's AI satellite sends an expensive haiku from orbit

Google's experimental orbital datacenter prototype has transmitted a haiku it generated in space, using one of its TPU chips aboard the satellite. The stunt is a demonstration of computing hardware operating off-planet, with the satellite effectively acting as a small datacenter in orbit. Commenters are amused that the satellite's first meaningful output was poetry, at considerable cost per line.

Why now: The novelty of a space-based datacenter producing AI-generated poetry is an amusing and striking demonstration of orbital computing.
