Vela Launches as a New Linux Desktop Environment
Original: Show HN: Vela, a New Linux Desktop Environment
A developer has released Vela 0.1, a new desktop environment for Linux, announcing it on Hacker News where it reached the front page. The project has its own website and blog post detailing the initial version. Early reaction is limited so far, with modest engagement, as Linux users take a first look at whether the new environment offers anything distinct from established options like GNOME and KDE.
Why now: New independent Linux desktop environments draw attention because the space is dominated by a few established projects and any newcomer is worth evaluating.
Rank over time, top of the chart is #1. 92 snapshots from 1 d ago to 34 min ago.
