Serbia elected the most highly educated parliament in the world
Original: Serbia just elected the world's brainiest parliament
Serbia's newly elected parliament reportedly has the highest concentration of highly educated members of any legislature in the world, according to a report in Science. The claim has drawn wide attention online, with readers debating what share of Serbian lawmakers hold advanced degrees and whether academic credentials translate into better lawmaking or effective governance.
Why now: It is surprising and counterintuitive news about a country not usually associated with unusually educated political elites, sparking debate about whether credentials improve governance.
