Wolfenstein 3D Ported to the Atari 2600

Original: Wolfenstein 3D on the Atari 2600

A hobbyist developer has ported the classic first-person shooter Wolfenstein 3D to the Atari 2600, a 1977 console originally built for simple blocky games. The port runs on the console's modern PlusCart and UnoCart homebrew cartridges. Retro computing fans are celebrating the technical achievement, as squeezing a raycasting shooter into the 2600's tiny memory and limited hardware represents a remarkable feat of programming skill.

Why now: It is a technically impressive homebrew port that pushes decades-old console hardware far beyond its intended limits
