Wolfenstein 3D ported to the Atari 2600
Original: Wolfenstein 3D on the Atari 2600
Hobbyist developers have created a playable port of the 1992 shooter Wolfenstein 3D for the Atari 2600, a console from 1977 with extremely limited hardware. The port runs via PlusCart or UnoCart flash cartridges and is being discussed on the AtariAge forums, where retro coding enthusiasts are marveling at squeezing raycasting-style graphics onto such an old machine.
Why now: Homebrew programmers and retro gaming fans are impressed by a technically ambitious port of a classic shooter to 1970s hardware.
