Ukraine repels Russian assault near Zaporizhzhia as dam fallout grows
Original: EXPOSED: Putin’s blown-up dam backfires as Ukraine smashes Zaporizhzhia assault | Battle Plans
Ukrainian forces have broken up a Russian assault in the Zaporizhzhia region, which commentators link to the aftermath of the destroyed Kakhovka dam. Analysts argue the flooding caused by the dam's destruction has hindered Russian defensive positions and crossings, backfiring on Moscow's forces in the south. Coverage is framing the repelled attack as a sign Ukraine retains momentum in the contested area.
Why now: The dam's destruction continues to reshape the battlefield, and a failed Russian offensive nearby is being read as evidence it has hurt Moscow's own positions.
