Putin's Kakhovka dam destruction backfires in Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine says
Original: EXPOSED: Putin’s blown-up dam backfires as Ukraine smashes Zaporizhzhia assault | Battle Plans
Reports claim Russia's destruction of the Kakhovka dam has backfired militarily, with Ukrainian forces repelling an assault in the Zaporizhzhia region. The dam's collapse drained the reservoir that had formed a natural barrier along parts of the front line, potentially easing crossings but also exposing Russian positions. Coverage frames the setback as a strategic own-goal for Moscow, while battlefield claims from either side remain hard to verify independently.
Why now: The dam's destruction reshaped the front line, and new fighting around Zaporizhzhia is being read as evidence it hurt Russia more than Ukraine.
