Boston Dynamics workers petition to block robot dog sale to ICE
Original: ICE wants robot dogs. Boston Dynamics' workers urge company to 'cancel the sale'
Employees at Boston Dynamics are calling on the company to cancel a sale of its Spot robot dogs to US Immigration and Customs Enforcement. In a petition, workers argue the deal would tie their robotics technology to deportations and border enforcement, contradicting the company's stated values and earlier pledges not to weaponize its robots.
Why now: The worker petition raises fresh debate over the ethics of selling advanced robotics to immigration enforcement agencies.
