Boston Dynamics workers petition to block robot dog sale to ICE
Original: ICE wants robot dogs. Boston Dynamics' workers urge company to 'cancel the sale'
Employees at Boston Dynamics are urging the company to cancel a reported sale of its robotic dogs to US Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The workers' petition, reported by WBUR, frames the potential deal with the Department of Homeland Security as a misuse of technology many associate with peaceful or commercial uses, and it has reignited debate over how robotics firms police their customers.
Why now: The petition directly challenges a company known for advanced robotics, raising timely questions about military and immigration enforcement uses of autonomous machines.
