Archbishop apologizes for Trump prayer
A senior archbishop has issued an apology after offering a prayer involving Donald Trump, prompting criticism from those who felt the gesture crossed lines between church and politics. The apology has fueled debate online, with some calling it an overcorrection and others saying clergy should avoid being drawn into partisan symbolism involving the president.
Why now: The overlap of religious authority and Trump-related politics is drawing strong reactions from both supporters and critics.
