Picasa Photo Viewer Rebuilt for Linux as Licasa
Original: Picasa Photo Viewer Rebuilt for Linux, Project Named Licasa
A developer has released Licasa, an open-source project rebuilding Google's discontinued Picasa photo viewer for Linux. The project, hosted on GitHub under the name sanxchep/licasa, aims to restore the fast, lightweight image browsing experience that Picasa offered before Google shut it down in 2016. Linux users nostalgic for the classic viewer have been sharing the project and discussing its progress.
Why now: Nostalgia for the discontinued Picasa software and a lack of good native Linux photo viewers are drawing attention to this rebuild effort.
