Open-source Circle to Search alternative works offline without Gemini
Original: This open-source Circle to Search skips Gemini and works offline
A new open-source take on Android's Circle to Search is drawing attention because it skips Google's Gemini AI entirely and can run completely offline. The tool replicates the gesture of circling anything on screen to search it, but processes results locally instead of sending queries to Google's cloud. It is being discussed as a privacy-friendly option for Android users who want the feature without Google's AI involvement.
Why now: Interest in privacy-focused, offline alternatives to Google's AI-powered search features is high right now.
