Iran has named a senior military figure widely described as the architect of its missile programme as its new defence minister, with reports citing a claim of 'over 50%' tied to the country's nuclear capabilities. The appointment is being read as a signal of Tehran's intent to keep advancing both its missile forces and nuclear posture, drawing close attention from analysts tracking Iran's defence and nuclear policy.
Why now: A high-profile appointment at Iran's defence ministry raises fresh concerns about the direction of Iran's nuclear and missile programmes.
