Ukraine says it carried out first drone evacuation of wounded soldier
Original: Ukraine claims first drone evacuation of wounded soldier
Ukraine's military says it has carried out its first evacuation of a wounded soldier from the front lines using a hexacopter drone. If confirmed, it would mark a new use of unmanned aircraft in the war, where drones already dominate reconnaissance and attacks. Evacuating casualties by drone could reduce risks to medics, who often cannot reach troops under fire quickly.
Why now: It signals a new battlefield use of drones in the Ukraine war and highlights how evacuation of the wounded remains highly dangerous.
