Ad attacking Susan Collins' rival aired in wrong Portland
Original: Fact Check: Ad targeting Maine Sen. Susan Collins' opponent Troy Jackson ran in wrong state. Here's who paid
A political ad targeting Troy Jackson, a Democratic opponent of Maine Senator Susan Collins, aired in Portland, Oregon instead of Portland, Maine. Snopes confirmed the mix-up and traced who paid for the ad. The error has drawn attention because the ad was presumably funded by allies of Collins, and its misplacement raises questions about the campaign's targeting and accountability.
Why now: The comedy of a Maine campaign ad airing 3,000 miles away, plus questions about who funded it, is drawing attention.
