The row over competitive yoga
Original: ‘This is horrifying. This is madness’: the row over competitive yoga
A debate is under way over competitive yoga, with critics reacting strongly to the idea of the practice being turned into a contest. One blunt reaction — 'This is horrifying. This is madness' — captures the anger among those who see yoga as a spiritual discipline rather than a sport, while supporters argue competition could raise its profile and standards.
Why now: Critics and supporters are clashing over whether yoga should be treated as a competitive sport.
