White House ordered limits on Starshield use in Ukraine, sources say
Original: Order to limit Starshield for Ukraine came from inside White House, sources say
Reuters reports, citing unnamed sources, that the order restricting Ukraine's use of SpaceX's Starshield satellite communications system came from within the White House. The report puts the decision at the presidential level rather than with the Pentagon or SpaceX itself. It is likely to intensify debate over how far Washington is willing to back Ukraine's battlefield connectivity, given Starshield's importance to Ukrainian military communications.
Why now: Fresh reporting attributes the Starshield restriction decision directly to the White House, touching on US policy toward Ukraine.
