QGIS imposes moratorium on AI-generated contributions
Original: QGIS enacts moratorium on AI contributions
The QGIS project, an open-source geographic information system, has enacted a moratorium on AI-generated contributions, formalised through a proposal on its official GitHub repository. The move blocks code or documentation produced by AI tools from being accepted for now. The decision is drawing attention in open-source communities grappling with how to handle a wave of machine-assisted submissions.
Why now: Open-source projects are actively debating how to manage the flood of AI-generated code, and a major project taking a firm stance is notable.
