QGIS imposes moratorium on AI-generated contributions
Original: QGIS enacts moratorium on AI contributions
QGIS, the open-source geographic information system project, has enacted a moratorium on AI-generated contributions. The decision, set out in a QGIS Enhancement Proposal on GitHub, means AI-assisted code and other submissions are suspended while the project works out how to handle them. Developers are debating the move as part of the wider argument over machine-generated content in open-source projects.
Why now: Open-source communities are actively wrestling with whether to accept AI-generated contributions, and a major project formally banning them sparks debate.
