Hillel Neuer confronts UN panel over UNRWA school principals
Original: Hillel Neuer confronts a UN Human Rights Council panel on education over UNRWA's employment of terrorist leaders as school principals
Hillel Neuer, head of the UN Watch monitoring group, challenged a UN Human Rights Council panel on education, accusing UNRWA of employing terrorist leaders as school principals. The confrontation reignites longstanding criticism of the UN relief agency for Palestinian refugees, which has faced repeated allegations that staff members are affiliated with militant groups, claims the agency disputes.
Why now: Renewed scrutiny of UNRWA staff alleged ties to militant groups has made the agency's role in education a flashpoint at the UN.
