UN Watch challenges UN Human Rights Council over UNRWA school principals
Original: Hillel Neuer confronts a UN Human Rights Council panel on education over UNRWA's employment of terrorist leaders as school principals
Hillel Neuer, head of the Geneva-based watchdog UN Watch, confronted a UN Human Rights Council panel on education, accusing UNRWA of employing terrorist leaders as school principals. The exchange adds to ongoing scrutiny of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, which has faced repeated accusations that staff or infrastructure were linked to armed groups, claims UNRWA has disputed.
Why now: Renewed controversy over UNRWA staffing and its role in Palestinian education has made the agency a flashpoint at the UN.
