EU budget proposal still not enough for Dutch government

Original: begroting van de europese unie

The European Union's budget is back in the spotlight after a new proposal suggested cutting billions from the EU's long-term spending plans. According to Dutch public broadcaster NOS, the revised proposal reduces the budget by several billion euros, but the Dutch cabinet says the cuts do not go far enough. Negotiations over the multi-annual EU budget continue, with member states still far apart on size and priorities.

Why now: New EU budget cuts are being debated and the Dutch government remains dissatisfied with the proposal.
