Camera trap study seeks Bolivia's rarest Amazon wild dog
Original: Study gathers over 4,000 photos to find Bolivia’s rarest Amazonian dog https:// toast.ooo/post/16588682
Researchers in Bolivia have collected more than 4,000 camera-trap photographs in an effort to locate the short-eared dog, one of the Amazon's rarest and least understood canids. The species, Atelocynus microtis, is so elusive that basic facts about its population and range remain unknown, and conservationists hope the photographic data will help map where it survives.
Why now: The species is extremely elusive, and a large new photographic dataset offers a rare chance to learn about it.
