New research covered by EurekAlert examines the spread of gemsbok, an African antelope introduced in New Mexico, and models how far the species could expand across the southwestern United States as climate change alters habitats. Scientists are weighing the ecological risks of the growing population and its potential to become an invasive species in warming, arid regions.
Why now: A newly released study on the climate-driven range expansion of an introduced species has caught scientific and ecological attention.
