Mediazona updates count of Russian losses in Ukraine war
Original: Russian losses in the war with Ukraine. Mediazona count, updated
Mediazona has published an updated tally of Russian losses in the war with Ukraine. The independent Russian outlet, working with BBC Russian, has tracked confirmed military deaths throughout the invasion by counting public sources such as cemeteries and casualty notices, figures widely seen as a floor rather than a total. The updated count is being cited in ongoing debate over the true scale of Moscow's casualties.
Why now: Ongoing interest in verified Russian casualty figures as the war continues.
