Mediazona updates count of Russian losses in Ukraine war
Original: Russian losses in the war with Ukraine. Mediazona count, updated
Mediazona has published an updated tally of Russian military losses in the war with Ukraine. The outlet, which counts casualties independently alongside BBC Russian, maintains one of the most detailed public estimates despite restrictions on reporting battlefield deaths. Its figures, based on confirmed deaths such as wills, cemetery records and public reports, are widely cited as a lower bound on the true toll.
Why now: Ongoing fighting and periodic casualty updates keep interest high in independent estimates of Russian losses.
