Fort Hood attacker's execution to be livestreamed
Original: Fort Hood attacker's execution by firing squad will be livestreamed
The man convicted of the 2009 Fort Hood shooting, which killed 13 people, is to have his execution by firing squad broadcast via a livestream, according to BBC News. It is an unusual step for a US execution, and the decision is drawing attention to both the rare use of a firing squad and questions about publicly streaming capital punishment.
Why now: Livestreaming a firing-squad execution is an unprecedented and controversial development in a long-running, high-profile death penalty case.
