Fort Hood attacker's execution to be livestreamed
Original: Fort Hood attacker's execution by firing squad will be livestreamed
The man convicted of the 2009 Fort Hood shooting, which killed 13 people, is to be executed by firing squad, and the event will be livestreamed to witnesses. The case has drawn renewed attention to the rarity of firing-squad executions in the United States and to how such events are broadcast to official observers.
Why now: The unusual combination of a firing-squad execution and a livestream makes the news striking and widely shared.
