The people holding up the internet
A new data-visualisation project, 'The people holding up the internet', is drawing attention for highlighting the often-overlooked workers and volunteers who keep online infrastructure running, from cable layers to system administrators. The project presents this through an interactive data visualisation, and it has quickly gained traction on technology discussion forums, with readers praising its focus on the human labour behind digital services most people take for granted.
