Burhan stays noncommittal in meeting with Trump's Africa adviser
Original: Sudan • Burhan remains poker-faced in encounter with Trump's Africa advisor
Sudanese army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan met with the Africa adviser of Donald Trump's administration, giving away little during the encounter, according to Africa Intelligence. The meeting comes as Sudan's civil war between the army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces continues, and as Washington weighs its approach to the conflict. Details of what was discussed were not disclosed, with Burhan reportedly revealing nothing of his position.
Why now: Sudan's war and the new US administration's diplomatic engagement with its leadership are current concerns.
