Original: Trump wants to make his West Palm Beach golf club a permanent presidential retreat
President Trump wants to turn his West Palm Beach golf club into a permanent presidential retreat, according to NBC News. The move would formalize the Florida property's role as a regular venue for presidential work and hospitality, paralleling the function Camp David serves. The report has drawn attention to questions about a sitting president using his own private club for official purposes.
Why now: A sitting president proposing to formalize official retreat status at his own private club raises unusual ethical and precedent questions.
