Trump seeks permanent presidential retreat status for West Palm Beach golf club
Original: Trump wants to make his West Palm Beach golf club a permanent presidential retreat
President Trump wants his West Palm Beach golf club to become a permanent presidential retreat, according to NBC News. The move would formally establish the Florida property as an official presidential venue alongside or in place of existing retreats like Camp David. The proposal is likely to draw scrutiny over the use of a privately owned club for official presidential functions and the associated costs and security implications.
Why now: The proposal raises questions about blending the presidency with the president's private business interests.
