Australia's Test series in South Africa to judge ageing greats
Original: Australia are an ageing side. The series in South Africa will help determine if they are a great one https://www.nytimes
Australia arrive in South Africa for a Test series that could define how their veteran core is remembered. With Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Nathan Lyon and Steve Smith all in the later stages of their careers, the side's age has prompted debate about whether this generation ranks among Australia's all-time great teams. The series is being framed as a measuring stick for a squad facing questions over its longevity.
Why now: A marquee Test series against South Africa offers the clearest test yet of whether Australia's ageing star players can still deliver at the highest level.
