Yggstore offers sharded encrypted storage between friends
Original: Sharded, encrypted storage between friends over Yggdrasil
A developer has released Yggstore, an open-source tool that shards and encrypts data across storage nodes belonging to friends, connected over the Yggdrasil overlay network. The idea is that each participant holds only an unreadable fragment of each other's files, so no single person can access the full data. Discussion is centring on the privacy model, redundancy, and how practical friend-to-friend storage is compared with commercial cloud services.
Why now: The project launched on GitHub and is drawing attention for its privacy-focused friend-to-friend storage approach.
