Fort Hood shooter Nidal Hasan to face firing squad execution
Original: nidal hasan
The US military will execute Nidal Hasan, the Army psychiatrist behind the 2009 Fort Hood shooting that killed 13 people, by firing squad, the first such execution in around 60 years. News of the decision is drawing renewed attention to the deadliest mass shooting on an American military base.
Why now: The announcement that a firing squad will be used for the first time in decades has put the long-stalled case back in the news.
