Fort Hood shooter Nidal Hasan to face firing squad execution

Original: nidal hasan

President Trump has ordered that Nidal Hasan, the US Army major convicted of killing 13 people in the 2009 Fort Hood shooting in Texas, be executed by firing squad. Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth said the execution will be carried out in public. It would be the first US military firing squad execution in around 60 years, drawing attention to the rarity of the method and renewed debate over military death penalty cases.

Why now: Trump's order for a firing squad execution, the first in the US military in decades and reportedly public, is an unprecedented decision driving widespread coverage.
