US Donor-Advised Funds Channel Millions to India's Far-Right Linked Groups
Original: US DAFs Donate Millions to Groups Linked to India’s Far-Right
An investigation by Bellingcat reports that donor-advised funds in the United States have routed millions of dollars to organisations linked to India's far-right. Donor-advised funds let individuals and foundations give anonymously, making it hard to trace the final recipients. The findings are drawing attention to how opaque US charitable giving can finance political and religious movements abroad.
Why now: The new Bellingcat investigation reveals anonymous US charitable money allegedly supporting far-right groups in India, a politically sensitive issue.
