US Donor-Advised Funds Channel Millions to India's Far-Right
Original: US DAFs Donate Millions to Groups Linked to India’s Far-Right
An investigation by Bellingcat reports that donor-advised funds in the United States have directed millions of dollars to organisations linked to India's far-right. Donor-advised funds allow individuals and foundations to give to charities anonymously, making the ultimate sources of the money difficult to trace. The findings are drawing attention to opaque American charitable giving and its possible role in funding political and religious movements in India.
Why now: The new Bellingcat report sheds light on anonymous US charitable money allegedly reaching far-right groups in India.
