Fort Hood shooter Nidal Hasan to face Army firing squad
Original: Fort Hood mass shooter Nidal Malik Hasan to die by US Army firing squad
The US Army has moved forward with an execution method decision for Nidal Malik Hasan, the former Army psychiatrist sentenced to death for the 2009 Fort Hood shooting that killed 13 people and wounded more than 30. His case has been stalled for years on appeals, and the choice of firing squad draws fresh attention to one of the military's longest-running death penalty cases.
Why now: A long-delayed capital case from the deadliest attack on a US military base is moving toward execution, reviving public debate.
