Fort Hood shooter Nidal Hasan to face Army firing squad
Original: Fort Hood mass shooter Nidal Malik Hasan to die by US Army firing squad
The US Army has set the method of execution for Nidal Malik Hasan, the former Army psychiatrist who killed 13 people in the 2009 Fort Hood shooting, as death by firing squad. Hasan has been on death row at Fort Leavenworth since his 2013 court-martial conviction. The case remains one of the deadliest attacks on a US military installation.
Why now: News that the Army has formally chosen firing squad as the execution method for a long-stalled death penalty case has renewed attention to the Fort Hood attack.
